Overview Black Eagle (1948):
Black Eagle is based on The Passing of Black Eagle, a short story by O. Henry. William Bishop stars as Jason Bond, who stays out of trouble by the simple expedient of avoiding other people. Unfortunately, the plot dictates that Bond must come into contact with several characters, all of whom end up fleecing our hero in one way or another. Even so, Jason manages to enjoy a brief romance with pretty Ginny Long (Virginia Patton) before returning to his life of carefree vagabondage. A very minor film, The Black Eagle makes the most of its excellent supporting cast, including Gordon Jones, Trevor Bardette, Will Wright and stuntman extraordinaire Richard Talmadge.Particular Movie

The sum up Black Eagle its a low budget spy action film that has clearly taken influence from Bond and even plays like one But it is not copying 007 just taking some pointers The film has heart and the director clearly was enjoying it all without taking the p This film is begging for a remake with JCVD
ReplyDeleteThe UK Bluray offers a decent 2401 widescreen transfer directors commentary a perhaps slightly better alternate ending that gives the Eagle itself more value than the one finally used a couple of deleted scenes one explaining why Douglas Henshall gets prominent billing for just a couple of shots as a charioteer who Tatum kills the rest

ReplyDeleteBlack Eagles 1781 1080p AVC presentation is one of those mixed bags one often gets from specialty labels that focus on cult films On one hand this is almost certainly the best Black Eagle has looked in decades but is this really a good Bluray transfer There is a limit to textural detail that seems to bear itself out in an oil painting
